Biography

Lyra Boru is an American classical-crossover artist, composer, and producer based in Berlin, poised to make her debut with a sound that defies easy categorization. Already receiving resounding feedback from industry professionals and Grammy-winners, she draws influence from the cinematic grandeur of Hans Zimmer and Howard Shore, the progressive rock storytelling of Coheed and Cambria, the gothic elegance of Evanescence, and the vocal power of Celine Dion. With delicately emotional yet powerful vocals, she creates music where soaring melodies and orchestral backdrops sweep listeners into something both intimate and vast — the soundtrack of her soul.

For Lyra, singing has always been more than performance. Since childhood it has been her freedom, her outlet, the fire at her core – and one of her deepest secrets, too close to the soul to share easily with the world. While hesitant to step forward as a solo artist, her love of song triumphed, and as a young girl she sang for several years with the Mendelssohn Club, one of the oldest classical music societies in the United States.

At 19, she left the U.S. alone, moving to Berlin to study architecture. Survival took precedence over passion, and she overcame immense trials and adversity to build a career as an architectural engineer in a foreign language. Yet with each passing year the weight of an unfulfilled calling grew heavier, until ignoring it was no longer possible.

Choosing courage over certainty, Lyra left architecture behind and turned fully to music — the dream that had never stopped burning inside her. In less than a year, with no formal musical training, she taught herself to write, compose, and produce her own work. Rooted in both classical traditions and cinematic modernity, her style reflects the sweep of film scores as much as the intensity of rock storytelling and the drama of timeless vocal artistry. She crafts each piece as both composer and producer, building intricate arrangements such as in Burn, where solo violin and viola dance intimately through verses before swelling into full orchestral landscapes – each element purposefully chosen to mirror the emotional journey of the song.

What began as a leap into the unknown became a profound transformation. Berlin, the city she had first come to in search of reinvention, ultimately gave her the space to discover who she truly is — and the courage to let it take flight. Her artistry is born of that transformation: turning struggle into beauty, and private emotion into something universal. With every note she hopes not only to share what stirs her own soul, but also to awaken something within others. For Lyra, music is more than craft; it is destiny, dream, and life’s work.

Described by a multi-Grammy-winning producer as “shockingly good.”
Music is an expression of letting your heart song fly. Granting it the power to explode up from the lungs, through the vocal cords and soar out into the universe. Each note connecting with your heart, mind and spirit. Knowing always that our existence is but a small drop in an infinite ocean. But in those notes, we find a place we can call home.
